Life

My 14 year old daughter wrote this, and I'm noting it down here because I feel it should be read :)

With the help of technology, our life is in apple-pie order. Every errand is brought back to our holed memory by alarms on our mobiles. We can greet every loved one via the internet – emails, live chats, social networking sites; the internet is a world of opportunities. The life of our generation has undergone a significant change thanks to technology.

The most convenient use of technology today is for communication with kith and kin. We can wish Happy Birthdays and state our love without even seeing the person face to face. It saves time and reduces the risk of neglecting a special occasion due to transport problems or the like.

The best friend of a man today is his personal mobile. Technology is the frontrunner in providing entertainment. With internet access on them, they are the must have essentials of the generation. You can carry your life in a hand sized computer genius! We can order dinners, book taxis, arrange meetings- with an effortless push of a button.

But there are two sides to a coin. Tagging along with the advantages are the numerous disadvantages. New hazards are being unearthed daily.

By spending hours on the personal computer connecting with loved ones abroad, youngsters tend to forget the living people on the sofa behind the machine. They tend to isolate themselves; it’s a heavenly retreat, a world of their own. Thus no one else really matters. But the core of the matter is that family should be more important than entertainment. It’s time to set our priorities right!

The next criminals are mobile phones, game consoles and so on. They occupy the minds of their victims; instead of studying, students play around with technology. From PDAs to holograms-it is time to nib the evil in the bud and divert their attention to other, physical, activities.

It is time for us to wake up and smell the coffee. We cannot travel back to the Stone Age-but we should try to limit the control of modern technology over our life. If we do not activate our grey cells fast, we’ll have to face the music- our generation will be lost in the virtual world.
